Edit a financial goal

The fastest way to edit a goal is to tell Clarity what to change - "bump my emergency fund target to $20,000" - and confirm the preview. Goals also show on the Plan tab, where progress and status are visible at a glance (view only; edits go through Clarity).

How to do it

  1. Ask Clarity for the change: a new amount, a new date, or a new name.
  2. Clarity shows the before-and-after preview.
  3. Confirm to save. The progress calculation rebuilds immediately against the new target.

Common questions

What happens to my progress history when I change the target?

The history stays. ClarityTrack stores monthly snapshots so you can see the trajectory regardless of how the target evolved. The progress percentage on the dashboard recomputes against the new target going forward.

Can I change a goal type, like from Emergency Fund to FI Number?

You can, but the calculation changes too. Switching from a savings target (FI Number) to an emergency fund target re-anchors the math against different inputs. Better to delete the old goal and add a new one cleanly when the underlying concept changes.

Can I delete a goal?

Yes - ask Clarity to delete it by name. Deleting removes its progress history.
