Delete your ClarityTrack account
To permanently delete your account, open Settings and scroll to the Delete Account section at the bottom of the page. Type the word DELETE in the confirmation field to enable the button, then click Permanently delete my account. Confirm one final time and the deletion runs immediately. This is irreversible.
How to do it
- Sign in to ClarityTrack.
- From the Dashboard header, click the Settings icon.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page. The Delete Account section has a red border.
- Read the warnings, particularly the note about exporting your memories first if you want a copy.
- Type the word DELETE in the confirmation field.
- Click Permanently delete my account.
- Confirm one more time in the browser dialog.
- Your account is deleted and you are signed out.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account, in one transaction:
- Your debts, transactions, payments, balance history, and payoff targets.
- Your goals and progress history.
- Your journal entries, notes, and any attachments.
- Your Clarity memory rules (anything Clarity learned about you).
- Your Plaid bank connections (the local records of them).
- Your investment holdings, fixed obligations, notification preferences, and Plaid-detected subscriptions.
- Your login event history.
- If you have an active subscription, it is canceled in Stripe and the customer record is removed.
- Your email address is removed from any internal license list or waitlist so a future signup with the same email starts fresh.
Common questions
Is this reversible?
No. Once you confirm, the deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no 30-day recovery window for hard deletes. If you want a softer option, see cancel your subscription instead. Cancellation keeps your data on file for 30 days so you can come back.
What if I only want to stop billing?
Cancel your subscription instead. From Settings, click Manage billing and cancel from the portal. Your data stays on file for 30 days and your account remains accessible. See billing/cancel.
Will my data still appear in your backups?
Backups are retained on a 30-day rolling window for disaster recovery. Your data is removed from active systems immediately on deletion and rotates out of backups within 30 days. We do not access backup copies of deleted accounts for any other reason.
What about my Plaid connection?
The local records are removed. Plaid's own access tokens may continue to exist on Plaid's side until they expire or are manually revoked. This has no functional impact on you. If you want to revoke at Plaid directly, you can manage connected apps from your bank's online portal or from plaid.com directly.
Why do I have to type the word DELETE?
To make sure the click was intentional. Account deletion is one of two destructive actions in the app (the other is delete a debt) and we use a typed confirmation on both to protect against accidental taps on mobile and misclicks on desktop.
Can I export my data before deleting?
You can export your Clarity memories from the Memory Rules section of Settings before you delete. Full-data CSV export is on our roadmap; until it ships, contact [email protected] if you need a copy of your debts and transactions before deleting.
