Connect a bank account
To connect a bank, open the Banks tab and click Connect bank. ClarityTrack uses Plaid to securely link to your bank, credit card, or brokerage. Sign in with your bank credentials in the Plaid window. After authorization, transactions sync automatically every few hours.
How to do it
- From the Dashboard, click the Banks tab.
- Click Connect bank.
- The Plaid Link window opens. Search for your bank by name.
- Select your bank and sign in with your bank credentials.
- Choose which accounts to share (checking, savings, credit cards, brokerage).
- Confirm the connection.
- Transactions begin syncing in the background.
What ClarityTrack can see
After you connect, ClarityTrack reads:
- Account balances (current and available)
- Transaction history (typically last 24 months)
- Account names and types
- For brokerage accounts: investment holdings and current values
ClarityTrack does NOT have the ability to move money, place trades, or change anything at your bank. It is read-only.
Common questions
Is Plaid safe?
Plaid is the standard service most US fintechs use for bank connections (Venmo, Wise, Chime, Robinhood, and thousands of others). Your bank credentials are entered into Plaid's secure window, not into ClarityTrack. Plaid then exchanges those credentials for a read-only token that ClarityTrack uses to fetch transactions.
My bank is not listed in Plaid.
Plaid covers about 12,000 institutions in the US. If yours is not listed, you have two options: search by login URL instead of name (Plaid often recognizes the URL even when the name is different), or use the Add manually flow to enter debts and track payments by hand.
How often do transactions sync?
Every few hours in the background, and immediately when you open the Banks tab or the Transactions tab. New transactions appear within a few minutes of posting at most banks.
I see a "Reconnect" badge on my bank. What does it mean?
The Plaid connection expired and needs you to sign in again at your bank. This usually happens when your bank password changes or after a long period of inactivity. Click Reconnect on the affected account and follow the Plaid flow to restore the connection.
