Import debts from a CSV file

To bulk-import debts, paste your list into Clarity - one debt per line, with name, balance, APR, and minimum payment - and say "import these as new debts." Clarity previews every row and asks you to confirm before saving anything.

How to do it

  1. Gather your debt list: name, starting balance, current balance, APR, and minimum payment for each.
  2. Paste the list into the chat (a simple line per debt is fine, e.g. "Chase Sapphire, $5,000, 24.99% APR, $150/mo minimum").
  3. Ask Clarity to import them as new debts.
  4. Clarity previews the parsed list; check the numbers.
  5. Confirm to save. Debts appear in your payoff plan immediately.

Common questions

What if a row is invalid or incomplete?

Clarity flags anything missing or unclear in the preview before it saves anything, and asks you to fill in the gap rather than guessing.

Will importing replace my existing debts?

No. Import only adds new debts; it never deletes or modifies existing ones. If a debt name matches an existing debt, the import flags it as a potential duplicate so you can decide whether to skip or rename.

Is there any UI-based bulk import?

No - debt creation, single or bulk, runs entirely through the conversation now. Ask Clarity.
