Log a payment against a debt

To log a payment, tell Clarity - "I paid $400 on my Chase card yesterday" - and confirm the preview. The payment reduces the debt balance and updates your monthly progress.

How to do it

  1. Tell Clarity the amount, the debt, and (optionally) the date - "log a $400 payment on Chase from yesterday."
  2. Clarity previews the payment entry.
  3. Confirm to save. Clarity will often also offer to update the debt's current balance to match.

Common questions

I have a bank connected. Do I still need to log payments manually?

Not always. If your bank account is connected and the payment shows up as a transaction, you can mark that transaction as a payment instead. This auto-logs the payment without you re-entering the amount.

I forgot to log a payment from last month. Can I backdate it?

Yes. Set the payment date to any date in the past. ClarityTrack accepts backdated payments and recalculates progress accordingly.

Why is my "above the line" status changing after I log a payment?

The above-the-line / below-the-line status compares your year-to-date payments against your monthly target, prorated to today's date. Logging a payment moves you closer to (or above) your target for the period.
