Add a debt to ClarityTrack

To add a debt, tell Clarity the name, balance, APR, and minimum payment - "add a new debt called Chase with balance $5,000 at 18.99% APR and minimum payment $125." Clarity previews it and asks you to confirm before saving. The debt appears in your payoff plan immediately.

How to do it

  1. Tell Clarity about the debt: name, current balance, APR, and minimum monthly payment. Mention a starting balance, payment URL, or due date too if you want them tracked.
  2. Clarity shows a preview of exactly what it will create.
  3. Confirm. The debt appears in your debts list and is included in every projection right away.

Common questions

What if my APR changes month to month?

Give Clarity the current APR. You can update it any time the same way - "my Chase rate is now 22.99%" - and Clarity uses the current value in projections.

Do I need to add every debt one at a time?

No. Paste a whole list into the chat and ask Clarity to import them all as new debts; it previews the full batch before saving anything. See debts/import-csv.

How do I delete a debt I added by mistake?

Ask Clarity to delete it by name (partial names work). It previews the deletion, including any linked transaction count, and asks you to confirm.

My bank connection already shows this debt. Do I need to add it too?

No - if a connected credit card or loan already shows the balance, it is tracked automatically. Adding it manually would double-count it. Manual entry is for debts your connected banks do not show (a private loan, a debt at an institution you have not linked).
