Delete a debt
To delete a debt, tell Clarity - "delete my Citi card" - and confirm the preview. The debt and its payment history are permanently removed.
How to do it
- Ask Clarity to delete the debt by name (partial names work, e.g. "delete Citi").
- Clarity previews what will be removed, including any linked transaction count.
- Confirm to permanently delete it.
When to delete vs mark as paid
- Delete if the debt was added by mistake, is a duplicate, or you never owed it. This wipes the record entirely.
- Mark as paid off by setting the current balance to $0 and leaving the debt in your list. ClarityTrack keeps the history so you can see what was paid off and when. The debt disappears from active projections but stays in your record.
Common questions
Can I undo a delete?
No. Debt deletes are permanent. The debt row and its associated balance history and manually-logged payments are removed.
What happens to the bank transactions that were linked to this debt?
Linked transactions are not deleted. They become unlinked and revert to their original category in the Transactions tab. You can re-link them to another debt later if needed.
Is there a UI way to delete a debt?
No - debt deletion runs entirely through the conversation. Ask Clarity.
